Michelle Barnes -Office Manager


She started in May 2000 at Dickman Road while the facility for Beadle Lake was being built. She first worked as an assistant and receptionist, but now uses her people skills and management talents to keep things flowing smoothly for the team at BLLAC.  She graduated from MSU in 2000 with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. She married Chad in 2001 and together they have 2 children; Michalla (7) and Drew (5).  They live in Ceresco on a small farm with multiple animals.  Michelle loves the outdoors and playing sports.

Lynn Loveland -Receptionist


Lynn was hired in Sept. 2007 as a receptionist. She is a graduate of Olivet High School, then went on to  Lansing
Community College to obtain her general Associates Degree, and finished at MSU in 1999 with a Bachelors of Animal Science Degree. With her husband, Mike, and her parents they travel all over showing Belgian Draft Horse hitches with up to six horses. She was married June 2001 – and they live in Albion with many Belgian horses. 
 


Gail Petersen -Bookkeeper


Gail started in Jan 2002 as a receptionist.  She now works a couple days a week at BLLA as our bookkeeper, tracking expenses and keeping the bills paid.  She graduated high school from Galesburg-Augusta and is currently living in Galesburg
with her husband Peter. They have a daughter Abby a couple of large dogs, a few cats, and many horses. 




Jackie (Banghart) Copenhafer -Veterinary Assistant


Jackie was hired in Feb 2005 as an assistant for Dr. Emery. She graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School in 2000. She then went on to study at KVCC for 2yrs and then transferred to Virginia Intermont College. In 2004 she graduated with B.S. degree, majoring in Equine Studies.  She is recently married to Jeff.  She currently lives in Galesburg
with her many animals including cats, a goat and a horse.  She loves to ride horses, read and hang out with friends.


Niki Van Lente, L.V.T, C.C.R.P. (pending)


She started in August 2008 at BLLA as our rehabilitation technician.  She graduated from Parkland College in 1997 with an A.A.S. and also received her L.V.T.  She is working on attaining her C.C.R.P. status. She has taken rehab courses through the University of Tennessee and is working on case studies to accomplish this.  Niki has two dogs, a cat, and a tank full of fish at home.  She married Jason in 1997 and together they have three beautiful children, Lexi (6 yrs), Brevon (5 yrs), and Danielle (5 yrs).

Ashley Fast
- Veterinary Assistant

Ashley started working at BLLA in M
arch 2005 after graduating from Marshall High School. She is primarily an assistant to Dr. Van Lente. She lives in Albion where she loves spending time with fiancee DJ and their 2 kids; Jaylin (4) and Kelsie (2). She grew up in Marshall on a big Quarter horse farm where she, her dad and sisters show western pleasure horses.

Hill
 - Veterinary Assistant

She started working at BLLA in Dec 2004 after completing a high school co-op program. After high school graduation from Parchment, she then went to WMU. She graduated from WMU in 2007 with a B.S. degree in Biomedical Science. She went to work for Pfizer after graduation while still working at the clinic on weekends. She then decided to return to us full time in the spring of 2009. This allows her to pursue her love of eventing horses.  She also trains horses and teaches lessons.


Caci Fuller- Veterinary Assistant

Caci came to us through a school program as a student in 2008. She was good help and was hired for the summer. She then set up an externship through school to come here as a student again. After that was done we kept her on as part-time help. She graduated from Athens High School in 2009. She is starting at Baker College this fall to obtain her veterinary technician degree.  Caci loves to show her horse, hunt, hang out with friends and drive her new truck.

 

We also want to recognize and thank the many students, volunteers, and summer help.
