Small Animal Rehabilitation

What is animal physical rehabilitation?

Many animals can benefit from physical rehabilitation. In human health care, we commonly receive physical therapy after an injury or surgery for any type of pain or dysfunction. We also receive continuing treatment after neurological injuries such as stroke, for fractures, sprains or strains, treatment of wounds, athletic injuries, arthritic conditions (such as Lyme's Disease causes), and the effects of aging (osteoarthritis).

Animals can receive rehabilitation for all of the above. Too often, our pets do not receive physical rehabilitation and this may prevent them from experiencing the relief associated with a full recovery.

Some common health issues that can be treated through physical rehabilitation:

  • Elbow dysplasia
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Spinal conditions
  • Post surgical conditions -orthopedic and neurological
  • ACL and CCL injuries
  • Muscle strains and pulls
  • Arthritis
  • Degenerative Myelopathy
  • Athletic injuries
  • Sore joints
  • Post fracture management
  • Trauma
  • Disc conditions

Treatments include modalities (heat, cold, electrical stimulation and ultrasound) applied to painful areas, joint mobilization through chiropractic manipulation, massage therapy, therapeutic exercise, aquatic therapy, and much more.

Animal physical rehabilitation or therapy can make a difference in the life of your pet. We combine chiropractic, acupuncture and physical rehabilitation in one center unique to our area. We will work with your pet's current veterinarian to diagnose problems and recommend treatment options that  can help your pet lead a more productive, happy life.
