Shockwave Therapy

What is shockwave?

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a treatment modality that can be used to treat refractory conditions by stimulating the animal’s natural repair mechanisms. Shockwaves are high energy acoustic waves that are transmitted to the affected body part. These waves can help trigger the patient’s repair mechanisms. Some conditions that shockwave is useful in treating include bowed tendons, suspensory injuries, “bucked shins”, “splints” and joint disease. This method of therapy can dramatically enhance the rate of soft tissue and bone healing. Horses undergoing shockwave therapy usually require multiple treatment sessions.

If you think shockwave therapy could help your horse, please do not hesitate to call.
